ASPIRE to PERSPIRE what is
REQUIRED of you to ACQUIRE. That’s the kind of sweet quotes you get from
motivational speakers especially when it comes to topics like financial
prosperity, living a debt free life or even fulfilling purpose. Indeed, most of
these motivational speakers possess oratory prowess and when they add up words
like “aspire to acquire...”, people get turned up to take actions. In fact,
listeners react on the spot exclaiming words like “preach!” “word!” “Iyen deep sir!”
Motivational speakers are so eloquent and convincing that at the point they speak, people feel if they don’t take actions on the instructions of the speaker, it have finish for them in life. However, not all the things motivational speakers say are applicable or can yield positive results in the real world.

However, not all the things motivational speakers say are applicable or can yield positive results in the real world.
As much as some motivational
speakers are successful to a reasonable extent, you still find a whole lot of
them living way below the level of prosperity they preach and you are tempted
to ask “oluwa wetine dey occur?”.
There are some of them that what you earn from your legit hustle in two weeks
can feed them for a month. Then one begins to wonder why the principles are not
working for them abi they are just
not applying it?
I was in a meeting sometime ago where a motivational speaker was energetically giving us 12Ts to acquiring wealth. As people were shouting “deep” “angle” “word”, the guy sitting next to me was just hissing; in my curiousity, I asked why he was reacting that way. Local man said all na scam. He lives in the same neighbourhood with our guest speaker who on more than two occasions was harassed by his landlord for not paying his house rent. He also said he was under a teaching where another speaker gave similar principles; he was challenged and he decided to abide by the principles. Long story short, baba said he ran into debt as a result of abiding by the principles. Mad ooo, I began to think if there was something wrong with the 12Ts of acquiring wealth that made it impossible for this guy to ASPIRE and PERSPIRE what is… you know what, never mind. Or it was not principles he needed at that point but advice from people grounded in his area of hustle. Apparently, not every principle is applicable in our environment.

Most of these motivational
speakers just have sweet mouth,
neither practicing the principles they teach nor living the life their
principles ASPIRE to ACQUIRE. Such speakers understand that their eloquence and
ability to play with words get their audience challenged and so motivational
speaking is their own hustle. If they don’t say these words, no matter how
infeasible it sounds they are going to run out of business. So they give tips
like “I started my business with #900 and it has grown to be an empire”. I’m
not saying there are no motivational speakers that address real life issues. My
point is that in reality, it is not all the principles motivational speakers
give that can work everywhere for everyone. In fact, some of them can’t adopt
some of their own principles; they just have to say it. After all, it is easier
said than done.
I’d recommend that you get
familiar with those who have excelled in your field of interest so they can
give you practical advice on how to get you to indeed ACQUIRE what you DESIRE. No
amount of motivational quotes can help you as much as the advice of those who
have gone ahead of you in your field; advice borne out of experiences of
reality. A wise man once said 'but why
trust the knowledge of a brickmaker about jewels? Would you go to the
breadmaker to inquire about the stars? No... you would go to the astrologer, if
you had power to think.’ Above all, the place of God cannot be overruled; commit your hustle unto His hands. Pray, seek advice and work.

Iyen deep sir

DeleteThis is really deep... I was shocked when I saw a motivational speaker who just delivered a speech hustling to get a Danfo then I had to look twice to confirm if he really was the speaker. Propably their motivational talks doesn't motivate them. Oluwa wetin dey motivate? Elevate àwọn motivational speaker so their life can jollicate. Nice work Gaptitiudes
ReplyDeleteI appreciate ur comment sportaneous pato
DeleteThe last paragraph. Nothing but the truth.
ReplyDeleteNice one
Of course. We can't ignore God
DeleteMmm,u can't acquire a thing except it is given from above. prosperity is beyond words, even a good orator doesn't understand. It good to listen to them but it better to have sense cos a blind man can't lead another blind man. If u want to make it,go to ur source don't let anybody give u water as juice and it better to get books of those, u can't see it working in their life.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... Keep it up bro. Nice piece
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement John Akinola

ReplyDeleteAsides motivation, the place of God in prosperity cannot be overruled.
Thanks for sharing this Gap.
I agree Hephzibahsdiary
DeleteThought-provoking piece.
ReplyDeleteWell said!
Motivation is good, yes but motivation without God's input is failure, even motivational speakers cannot be motivated without God. Everyone's life is different, what work for Mr A might not work for Mr B so there is no laid down rule in achieving success or in doing anything at all.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
I couldn't agree more

ReplyDeleteThank you Larry_Gee. I appreciate your comment
DeleteHmm...Gap, this is deep. God safe us. Most of these motivational speakers often dish a "one shawl fits all" approach instead of an individual-tailored approach. At some point, everyone has to become their own motivational speaker.
ReplyDeleteI agree Oluwapemi Okunade

ReplyDeleteMotivation is overrated.
ReplyDeleteI avoid motivational speakers like a plague. Especially those so called relationship experts.

ReplyDeleteYou raised some valid points above. But let's look beyond the scam artists who refer to themselves as motivational speakers. Real motivational speakers still have a role to play in the lives of those who fuck with them and that's not a bad thing. You try, my guy.
ReplyDeleteN.
Baba Alaye. I appreciate your comments. Thank you boss
DeleteMotivational leaders can mislead sometimes, that's why we have to be conscious of who we listen to and choose which of the advice to follow. Nice saying.
ReplyDeleteI agree Adebayo The Voice
DeleteI found myself rolling reading this. My service year was filled with motivational speakers that came with 10 tips on how to become Dangote after service year. I'm wondering why he hasn't become the next Dangote 😀

DeleteThis is on point and very deep. The only Gap in research.
ReplyDeleteLol, honestly some motivational speakers would make you ask questions like "Oluwa, wetin dey manifest, what have I been doing with my life?".
ReplyDeleteThank you Sammie Olamide. Let's not work with others' clock and get depressed
DeleteA bite of many of the full package of the reversals in our society. We have many 'talkers' but few 'livers'. Motivational speakers are not almighty in themselves. Promotion comes not from the East or West... Not even from man! I subscribe to meeting people that have value to add to you: standing on the giant's shoulder. I subscribe to meeting the source of all inspiration who can take you beyond the limit of man. The best of man's experience is limited in itself...
ReplyDeleteGood work!
Hmmm. Thank you Stephen Olugbade
